Dade Phelan’s Border Security Failures

With a single hit of the gavel, Dade Phelan killed HB 20 which would have established our own Border Protection Unit in Texas.

The Border Protection Unit would’ve included individuals with former military experience such as national guards or former border patrol agents and was intended to repel illegal immigrants, build and maintain the border wall, and return illegal immigrants to Mexico.

Dade Phelan is not stopping the flow of illegal immigrants; he is encouraging it! His own company, Phelan Investments, DOES NOT use E-Verify. E-Verify is a free system that businesses can use to ensure their employees are not illegal immigrants and are eligible to work in the United States. This system is a vital deterrent when it comes to illegal immigration.

SCR 23 would have declared an invasion at the Southern Border, allowing Texas to use more power to repel illegal immigrants. Dade Phelan’s lieutenants made sure the resolution never got a hearing.

HB 3280 would have ended taxpayer funded tuition for illegal immigrants. Dade Phelan’s lieutenants made sure the bill never got a hearing.

HB 3846 would have required that Texas businesses use E-Verify, making it more difficult for illegal immigrants to steal American jobs. Dade Phelan’s lieutenants made sure the bill never got a hearing, allowing businesses, like Phelan Investments, to continue to perpetuate the crisis at the border.

SB 2424 would have empowered Texas law enforcement to arrest and deport illegal immigrants by making illegally crossing the border a state crime.

Dade Phelan sided with Democrats and killed the bill on the spot.

After criticizing the strongest border security bill that Texas has ever seen, Dade Phelan was the only Republican in the Texas Legislature that DID NOT vote for SB 4.

SB 4 empowers Texas law enforcement and officials to arrest, prosecute, and deport illegal immigrants. Dade Phelan’s unwillingness to vote for this bill is deplorable.
